This New Year celebration of trees, observed on the 15th day of the Hebrew month Shevat, has grown in popularity because of its connection to the environment. PBS Television went with a Journey on our God’s Row Eldridge Street project and spoke with Eldridge Street Synagogue educator Mattie Ettenheim at a Tu B’Shevat observance.

In 2023, Tu B’Shevat is celebrated from sundown on Sunday,February 5th to sundown, Monday, February 6th.

In the United States, we also celebrate another similar holiday, Arbor Day, a holiday dedicated to the care and planting of trees. This year, Arbor Day falls on Friday, April 28th.
